Southshift is a specialist climate finance partner dedicated to accelerating the green transition for the Global South.
Who We Are
Southshift brings experience from across the climate finance system: development banks, climate funds, MDBs, governments and financial institutions.
We have worked on both the financing and institutional sides of climate investment, from developing programmes and financial instruments to strengthening the systems through which capital is deployed.

What We Believe
International climate finance has its greatest impact when it strengthens the institutions and markets that will continue investing after it.
Our work is designed around that principle: deliver the investment at hand while helping create the conditions for more capital to follow.

Our Approach
We start by understanding the institution, the investment and what is getting in the way.
From there, we work with our clients to develop solutions that fit their mandate, market and operating reality. We draw on specialist expertise when needed and stay close to the teams responsible for taking the work forward.
The objective is not just to complete an assignment, but to make the next investment easier to deliver.

Services
Our work spans four areas of climate finance delivery.

Climate Finance Access
We help institutions put climate finance to work, developing the programmes, pipelines and institutional arrangements needed to move from access to investment and delivery.

Institutional Architecture
We develop climate investment programmes, bringing together financial design, implementation arrangements and the technical work needed to take them forward.

Pipelines & Structuring
We identify and prepare investment opportunities, assess bankability and design financial structures that can mobilise additional capital.

Investment Programmes
We develop climate investment programmes, bringing together financial design, implementation arrangements and the technical work needed to take them forward.
